Pockets, a Border Terrier, tells her story
of how she deals with the ups and downs of life and those of
her families. Her feelings deal with a sense of abandonment,
sibling rivalry, jealousy, fear, sympathy, and elation. Witty
and cocky with loads of "attitude", but also sensitive
and compassionate, Pockets will lead the reader down the road
of her perceived adversities, challenges, and finally acceptance
and celebration. Adults and children alike can learn much from this wonderful little animal. |

Nancy writes:
She came to us as a gift from strangers who have since become our dear friends. She brought love and smiles to everyone who met her and filled our lives with that special love that only pets can give. She got our family through many health crises and difficult times, and she herself fought gallantly through her own many brushes with death as she conquered both liver and Addisons disease. This time, pneumonia conquered her, and when she was fighting for each breath, we let her go in peace.
Our daughter Cindy called her the "Energizer Bunny" and even our wonderful veterinarians could not believe how well she was doing as she approached her sixteenth birthday. She couldn't hear, she could barely see, but she made up for those limitations by giving extra love and kisses to anyone who would let her near them. She still reigned supreme in our family and with her two Labrador Retriever brothers who are looking all over the house for their little "big sis." We will all miss that famous Border bark which can be heard from miles away and caused many problems with neighbors.Pockets, Full of Love the title of a book written about her life, told of the many lessons of life that we all need to remember. Though she probably wished she could have been the only four-legged creature in our home, she accepted the arrival of each "brother" with a wonderful and accepting attitude. She helped us appreciate their differences and definitely taught them to respect their elders.
Pockets was my angel, my soul mate, and my friend. She listened to me, she waited for me, she sat for hours with me, and she constantly showered me with unconditional love and understanding. Though my family sometimes said I loved her more than them, that is definitely not true. But, I can not imagine ever loving another animal as much as I loved my Pockets. She didn't just fill our pockets with love; she filled our life with it. We will always remember her and know she is in a better place now, breathing freely and giving everyone in Heaven a piece of her attitude.
